If algae has got you down and all of your solutions have failed, then the best course of action might just be to tear out all of your rock and basically start over. It doesn’t sound like fun at all, and it will require a great deal of work, but you may never rid yourself of the green plague if you don’t take extreme actions. Because once stuff like hair algae and bubble algae get in your tank, it’s really hard to get out.

Before taking your tank completely down, however, you need to have a clean source of replacement rock. You might have to use dry rock or live rock that has been cooked, cured, and properly seeded, but the end result will be well worth it. And once your tank is algae-free, ensure that it stays that way by quarantining all incoming corals.
